1968 327/1989 T-5 CONVERSION PAGE

This is tthe z the day I bought it for 400 bucks

Picked this pile up from Prunedale Motors in salinas. Doors wont shut, motor barley runs and some dumbass painted everything red and is a wiring nightmare

Slightly improved

Fixed the motor. Give it a backyard paint job midnight blue. New tires, 3/4 inch sway bar, new springs and shocks, MSA body kit, 2 1/2 inch exhaust, MSA header, 72 round top SU carbs, are a few of the improvements. Drove it this way for about a year and a half as a daily driver.

Sunday April 25 2004
Engine pulled, 1968 327 and 89 wc T-5 waiting to go in.

Pulled the motor 4-25-04, degreased the engine bay. Removed the hood latch thing. Getting ready to sand down and paint the bay

Engine bay painted

Sanded and painted the engine bay during the week. Also removed unnessary things on firewall and fenders. Paint is dark blue Ford Blue heat paint.

Sunday may 2nd 2004
hmmm

Worked all day, the clutch disc does not fit because the flywheel bolts hit the disc springs. Problem is the 16 pound flywheel is not intended to be used with an early sbc block and a late modle flywheel. Need a special disc that has the springs not going past the disc surface. Got one from Raymond in bossier City, LA at Automotive Machine Shop.

Did a trial fit with the engine only. Whole day sucked.

Sunday May 9th 2004

Pulled motor back out. Now with the right clutch disc we got the 327 and wc T-5 tranny put together. Did a trial fit in engine bay. Transmission hit the stock (ears) tranny mounts in the tunnel. Pulled the motor again. Cut off the tranny mounts in the tunnel. Did another trial fit. Now the slave mount that is on the drivers side hits the tunnel, might have to pull the motor and tranny again.

Sunday 16th 2004

Went to pick your nose half off sale and picked up a taurus fan, radiator mounts and the camaro clutch master cylinder reservoir.

Pounded the tunnel for three hours to make room for the slave cylinder...i mean i held the pipe and randy beat the shit out of it.

Finished tightening the motor mounts and installed the tranny mount to the floorboard with the engine at a 2.5 - 3 degree slant back.
